DIVORCE IN CONNECTICUT IS STARTING A PETITION TO IMPROVE PARENTAL COMMUNICATION DURING DIVORCE!

See link below to change.org petition:

DISCUSSION:

There are two areas in divorce which particularly cause problems for divorcing couples. One is the issue of custody, while the other is the division of the marital assets.  These issues are addressed in the automatic orders which are given to both parties when the divorce is filed. See link:
When it comes to financial issues, the automatic orders does well in Section 3, Item #1 by requiring parties to file financial affidavits within 30 days of the return day.
In contrast, custody matters are handled in a very sloppy manner.  Section 1, Item #3 of the automatic orders tells the parents to, "assist their children in having contact with both parties, which is consistent with the habits of the family, personally, by telephone, and in writing."  The problem with this provision is that it is vague and unclear, which makes it particularly difficult to enforce.  As a result, parents can spend thousands and thousands of dollars hammering out the details of each and every visit as it arises.  When there are problems related to domestic violence or difficulties with parents obtaining access to their kids, this turns obtaining parenting time safely and equitably into a nightmare.
As a result, this petition asks that the Chief Administrator of the CT Judicial Branch recommend that the Branch add a provision to the third section of the Automatic orders in The CT Practice Book to require that parents fill out and submit to the Court a Parental Responsibility Plan JD-FM-199 with 30 days of the return day.  See a copy of this form at the link below:
This requirement will go a long way towards reducing the friction between the parties, cutting back on unnecessary financial expenditures, building bridges, and establishing clearcut and sensible guidelines in regard to how parents will co-parent during the divorce proceedings.

PLEASE HELP! SIGN THE PETITION: STOP AMERICAN FAMILY COURT BIAS AGAINST IRISH IMMIGRANT MOTHER!

Roisin Cassidy is a protective mother from San Mateo, CA who needs your help.  See the story below:

"My name is Roisin Cassidy. I was a custodial mother of my two children for 15 years, currently aged 15 and 11. I've always been a devoted mother, and all I have ever wanted to do was to co parent my children. Nonetheless, their wealthy abusive father asked for sole custody and was successful, by means of a custody report that I believe to be inaccurate and biased, conducted by Dr. Ken B. Perlmutter. This report was signed into a court order by Judge Raymond Swope, San Mateo. I was not permitted to present my evidence in court.
This is not a case of substance abuse, mental illness or parental deficiencies. After leaving an abusive marriage, my children and I were subjected to years of expensive litigation and harassment, as well as two custody evaluations by Ken Perlmutter Phd, Palo Alto. These custody evaluations placed me and the children under a microscope for years to the point where I had to account for every decision I made no matter how small and for each and every incident that occurred in our daily lives no matter how trivial. If I was five minutes late for a doctor's appointment, I had to explain why in detail..."

SIGN THE KELLY RUTHERFORD PETITION!

The Stop Abuse Campaign urges you to sign Kelly Rutherford's Petition!  See Below:

"Only in a broken court system could an undisputably wonderful mother like Kelly Rutherford lose custody because her ex-partner did something that made him ineligible to return to the United States.  Judge Teresa Beaudet somehow thought it was more important that the children live with a flawed father rather than a great mother who is the primary attachment figure.  The judge forced the children to leave their home in the United States and move to France.  Kelly Rutherford is a friend of the Stop Abuse Campaign.  She wrote a blurb in support of Barry Goldstein's book, The Quincy Solution.  We are heartbroken at the unspeakable cruelty of separating the children from the mother they love.

When a mother like Kelly Rutherford can lose custody in the broken court system, no mother and no child is safe.  Kelly has started a petition asking President Obama to help rescue her children.  We at the Stop Abuse Campaign are here because we understand the need to protect children.  Accordingly we ask our friends and supporters to sign Kelly's petition and spread the word..."

SIGN THE PETITION TO DENY REAPPOINTMENT OF CHIEF JUSTICE CHASE T. ROGERS!

“We the undersigned parents, business leaders, legal professionals, citizens, taxpayers, and voters of the State of Connecticut hereby petition and demand that Governor Malloy and our State Legislature deny the reappointment of Chief State Justice Chase Rogers as head of our state’s Judiciary.
Chief State Justice Rogers has failed our state and its citizens, families and children by presiding over and encouraging the operation of a court system which is operationally dysfunctional and unnecessarily antiquated, costly, time consuming and unlawfully political.
Chief Justice Rogers has violated the basic principal of the separation of the three branches government and allowed gross violations of basic and fundamental Constitutional, due process and civil rights..."
