DISAPPOINTMENT IN CONNECTICUT

I was talking to some people I met at the cash register where I was going shopping. And I mentioned that fact that I've started to write this blog about divorce in Connecticut. I mentioned the situation with the automatic orders and the requirement that you include your ex and make sure he or she continues seeing the kids and maintains contact with them. My friends here were women and they immediately started to make statements like they wished their ex would just disappear, and a few said they did what they could to keep the ex away. They said they didn't know of any automatic orders that require anything different and even if there were any they would ignore them. I said the automatic orders appeared to be points of wisdom that had been gleaned by the state of Connecticut over time and was the result of hard won experience about what works. These ladies disagreed. One said, as far as I'm concerned the Courts provide what you can only call a kind of affirmative action towards men. No matter what they do with the children, men can get away with anything. "So you would say that it isn't true that women have all the advantage in Court?" I asked. No, said another one of the women. You can hire a lawyer, have excellent evidence, and go to Court asking for relief. Then you go before the Court and still end up with nothing. She shook her head. It seems amazing, but that's the way it is. Even though the consequences are harmful to the children and their wellbeing is put at risk, men get a free ticket to go ahead and do as they please. What I hear is that the Courts are out of touch, that lawlessness is rampant and that the result is that women and children end up the victims of this situation. Is this true? Is this what you are experiencing here in Connecticut?
