I was recently asked whether this blog is active. I certainly monitor the comments on the blog and pay attention if something new comes up.
Otherwise, everything that I see going on is just repeat.
I have written as much as I possibly can about what is going on in family court. All of the situations that I have described are continuing to happen. This is an ongoing situation. There has been little reform, and little indication that the legal profession or anyone else, the media, your average citizen, give a shit about what is happening to people.
I could continue to cover this issue, but again, as I said, it would all be repeat.
There are 1800 blogs in total on this website with extensive observations on what to expect in family court, how to handle your own family court situation, and overviews in detail of specific cases.
I think I've pretty much covered it all.
If anything new appeared, certainly I'd report on it. But at this point, it's all the corruption again and again with the same family court operators doing it.
I'm not sure what more I can say here. Nothing much has changed.
Prepare to have your life destroyed if you enter family court, particularly if you are a mother.

It is a shame that this blog has lost it's steam. You put so much work into it, and it is a valuable resource for those about to enter divorce court and a potential custody battle for the first time in they're lives. You've dedicated years to this. But I believe you're right, Catherine, after Minnie Gonzalez (sp) lost her seat on the judiciary committee (or was voted off the island), that was a devastating blow for a voice in Hartford. But what makes this blog the biggest shame is your bias against fathers. All of your posts and comments and some really good writing and research you did was all tainted with your belief that it is primarily mothers who get abused in court. You could never let that go, and to that, you lost so much credibility. What a shame.
ReplyDeleteOh, very funny. I write about what I think and believe. But as you know, I have a notice about submissions, so if any father has a perspective he wants to talk about, he is welcome to submit it. I've published many such articles by prominent fatherhood rights activists. If something a father wants said, has not been said, hey, submissions is there, that's all I can say.
DeleteThat's the problem Catherine, you're writing what you "think" or Believe". Proper reporting is not what you think but what is fact. And this misconstrued platform that you're running that abusive fathers have a better chance of getting custody of their kids in CT is not fact based. It's a general given, that fathers get screwed in divorce court than mothers do. Mom makes a million dollars a year and dad makes $50,000, dad still has to pay child support. Why don't you talk about that topic. You don't. That's why your site has lost it's steam. It's not balanced.

DeleteAnd the story continues, Atty. Rebimbas from Naugatuck, has a judgeship now. As a GAL herself, she now hs more controlling authority in the state of CT. While she was representing the Naugatuck area, how has he made that area a better place to live? Any tax reform for homeowners? I haven't seen any. I bet she gets to increase her hourly rate by 25% now that she has that power now. The whole GAL reform project started by so many well meaning people, went nowhere. My grandfather always said it's the golden rule. The ones with the gold, make the rules.
DeleteThe reason why the GAL reform project didn't go anywhere is that it was hijacked by father's rights people who were acting in accordance with the NPO agenda, if not run by them. That's my best guess. They got involved in characterizing anyone who didn't agree with them as mentally ill, and the problem with doing that is in the end everyone in the reform movement was characterized as disgruntled and mentally ill.

DeleteI just read these comments now. This is Catherine’s blog. She’s not writing for the BBC. She shares her experiences and what she’s observed. If you have a different perspective you can start your own blog. A father complaining about having to pay child support at all is pretty laughable when most of what’s written about here deals with custody being taken away from protective mothers. But go ahead and complain about the $100 a week you have to part with for child support and how Catherine’s blog isn’t fair to fathers. Seriously fuck off.
ReplyDeleteAnd to Sad mom, I hopped on this site after 2 years and what's happened....nothing. Becuase this site is biased. Fathers HAVE to pay their child support or go to jail and they should if they don't. Most of us making comments on this site just want to take their kids out to a ball game and help them with their homework. That's all I ever wanted. You sound a bit bitter yourself. Is the money you're getting not enough? With most moms it's not. Some see divorce as legal way of winning the lotto......go start your own blog. Stay off this one. Everyone else has.
DeleteThis blog continues to attract an audience long after I stopped writing. No fathers don't "HAVE" to pay their child support or go to jail. I know situations where fathers owe thousands and thousands of dollars and they get away with it. I'm not sure what is exactly going on because some fathers do end up in jail, but there is $10 Billion and counting in unpaid child support and those Dads (some Moms in those numbers) are not in jail, just saying.
DeleteI told my attorney that my ex was allowing an older man molest our 13 year old son. She mostly ignored me. I was not permitted to discuss it with my son during supervised visitation. At the next hearing my ex agreed to disclose and divide $130,000 worth of gold coins. It came as a complete shock to me. No one mentioned that it was even a possibility before said hearing.. I never thought that I would see those coins again because my ex is greedy. It wasn't unil recently that I was able to confirm that my son was molested because he turned 18. I have strong reason to believe that my other 3 kids were also molested, but I cannot confirm it because I haven't seen them in almost 7 years. I told my son to go report what had happened to the police. A week and a half later the judge filed an order ON HIS OWN ACCORD. He ordered that I could only have supervised visitation with my adult son.
ReplyDeleteNow I am being retaliated against for complaining. My youngest daughter is in the legal and physical custody of a person who previously drugged and raped a teen. The evidence was entered into the record. The mother understands the danger posed to the child. She came to court and AGREED to my motion to establish paternity. But before we could sign a stipulation, we were rushed into the courtroom where the motion was DENIED.
I have also been hacked, stalked, harassed and even poisoned.
No one will listen to me. I have complained to all the appropriate people and agencies.
